Citizenship Canada

You may apply for Canadian Citizenship if you meet the following requirements:
  • Are 18 years of age or older (for children under 18: parent or legal guardian must do it and one parent must be a citizen or is applying at the same time)
  • Are permanent resident of Canada
  • Meet the residence requirements: have been physically present in Canada for at least four(1460 days) of the six years immediately before the date of your application, except children under 18.
  • Must meet income tax obligations in the past 4 years
  • If between the age of 14-64 years old: CLB 4 in speaking and listening or academic documentation proving secondary or past secondary school was in English or French
  • Understand the rights, responsibilities, and privileges of citizenship (adults over the age of 65 are exempt).
  • Those individuals that have committed a crime in or outside Canada may not be eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship for a period of time.
